Research: More than 20 years of experience in cancer research. Our pre-clinical studies have shown antitumor activity in breast cancer and melanoma models, enhancing the antitumor immune response. We have favorable results in Phase I clinical studies in healthy volunteers and patients and we currently have a Phase I b and Phase II clinical study in progress with patients with breast cancer.
What is cancer: Cancer is a disease in which some of the body’s cells grow out of control and spread to other parts of the body. Normally, human cells grow and multiply (through a process called cell division) to form new cells as the body needs them. When cells get old or damaged, they die and new cells take their place. Sometimes this orderly process breaks down and abnormal or damaged cells grow and multiply. These damaged cells can form tumors, which are abnormal tissue masses that also affect the surrounding tissue called the tumor microenvironment, which has the effect of suppressing the immune response and altering tissue metabolism. Tumors can be malignant or benign. Malignant tumors spread or invade nearby tissues and can travel to distant places in the body to form new tumors (a process called metastasis).
What is a phytomedicine: Phytomedicines are extracts obtained from plants that have been standardized and validated chemically and biologically. They are used just like medicine but they differ in that they contain multiple molecules together, which is why they are currently called polymolecular drugs.
